Odisha School & Mass Education Department, Govt. of Odisha has issued online application to conduct a OSSTET 2018 for the Secondary School Teacher (High School Teacher) from the session 2016. As we know OTET exam is conducted every year to determine the eligibility of the primary school teacher, similarly the Board of Secondary Education Department will conduct an Examination named Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET) once in a year to determine the eligibility of the High School Teacher (Class IX and X). The Details guidelines and exam procedure for OSSTET examination is mentioned below. Interested candidates can apply online from 10/09/2018, 12.00 p.m. till 17/09/2018 11:45pm. Deposit of fee, either online or offline through SBI Collect shall have to be completed by 11.45 pm of 17/09/2018. However submission of information in the online application can be done till midnight of 18/09/2018.
Guidelines for conducting Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET) :
1. Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test” (OSSTET). OSSTET shall be conducted once in a year or as decided by Government according to need
2. Board of Secondary Education,(BSE) Odisha will conduct the OSSTET Examination. the form will be available via online mode.
3. Who Can Apply for OSSTET exam ?
All candidates who possess requisite academic and training qualifications with requisite percentage of marks and to all candidates pursuing the final year of the teacher training courses before the date of publication of advertisement for conducting OSSTET who aspire to become teachers for Secondary Schools of the State i.e. Govt., Pvt. Aided and Pvt. Unaided Schools in the State of Odisha
4. Who Is Eligible to Apply for OSSTET ?
Eligibility
Candidate having any of the below given qualification can apply
Candidates passed Odia as MIL up to HSC level or any such equivalent or higher examination
OR have passed Odia as a subject in specific examination conducted by BSE, Odisha of HSC standard
OR have passed HSC Examination of BSE, Odisha in Odia medium with MIL other than Odia. (Such
candidates who have passed HSC Examination of BSE, Odisha without Odia as MIL should produce a certificate to the effect from the Headmaster of the concerned school that he / she has passed HSC Examination in Odia medium) shall be eligible for appearing in OSSTET.
5. OSSTET Exam Pattern :
A . OSSTET Exam will be conducted in two papers viz -Paper-I and Paper-II.
B.
- If a candidate want to be a teacher in [Category -I ] TG (Science/Arts) / Hindi /Sanskrit /Urdu/Telugu-I have to appear in Paper-I Examination.
- If a candidate want to be a teacher in [Category -II ] (PET) have to appear paper-II Examination.
C. The exam time duration is 2:30 hours.
D. All questions are Multiple Choice Question (MCQ), each carrying one mark with four alternatives out of which one answer is correct. No Negative Marking For Wrong Answer.
F. There shall be three sections in each paper. (Section 1, 2 and 3)
- Section-I, Odia is compulsory all post.
- Section-II, English subject shall be compulsory for all candidates.
- Section-III, The questions in Arts and Science subjects shall be in English. The question in subjects like Hindi/Classical (Sanskrit/Telugu/Urdu) shall be in respective languages.
- The question in Physical Education course (paper-II) shall be in English.
5. Qualifying marks of OSSTET Examination :
The minimum pass mark in each paper is 60%. A person securing 60% or more in a paper shall be considered OSSTET pass. In case of SC,ST,PH, OBC/SEBC candidates, the minimum pass mark shall be 50%.
6. Issue of Certificate
Successful candidates shall be awarded an OSSTET Certificate by BSE(O). The Certificate shall contain the name and address of the candidate, date of birth, registration number, year/month of award of certificate & marks obtained in paper(s). The Certificate shall be electronically generated with adequate security features.
8. Validity of OSSTET Certificate
The validity period of OSSTET qualifying certificate /mark sheet shall be for a minimum period of 7 years from the date of OSSTET examination subject to fulfillment of all other eligibility conditions of appointment as may be imposed by the Appointing Authority from time to time.
9. There shall be no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a OSSTET Certificate.
10. The weightage of OSSTET scores in the recruitment process shall be as decided by Government from time to time.
11. Qualifying the OSSTET would not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment. The eligibility shall finally be verified by the concerned recruiting agency/ appointing authority.
