Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) 2018 Online Application Form & Registration Procedure by BSE, Odisha



Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha may publish the Online Application Form for The Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) 2018. The interested candidates those have completed either CT Course or B.Ed course can apply online by going through the website www.bseodisha.nic.in and www.bseodisha.ac.in .The online registration for OTET 2018 may start sfrom 23/08/2018 and the last date of online registration may be  06/09/2018OTET Exam 2018 will be conducted for two papers that is PAPER 1 and PAPER 2. Application fee is Rs 500 for general candidates and Rs 300 for SC/ST category of candidates. Read the how to apply to know the details applying procedure.

How To Apply :

A candidates have to apply online by following the below given procedures.
  1. Click here to go to OTET website
  2. Click on NEW REGISTERATION button.
  3. Enter your Name, Email ID, Mobile Number and Password whic you want to take. 
  4. A verification code will be sent to your email id and mobile number
  5. Now Login to your account with your Email ID and Password
  6. You will be asked to enter the verification code which was sent to your Email Id.
  7. Enter that code and click on submit
  8. Now you will be directed To SBI Collect Website
  9. Click on check box to agree to the term and con
  10. Choose STATE OF INSTITUTE and TYPE OF INSTITUTE
  11. The choose the Educational Institute name
  12. Then select the payment category as OTET 2018 (1st)
  13. The Pay the application fee
  14. Now a DU Reference number will be sent to your mobile, you should keep it
  15. After 12 hour of payment of fee agian login to your account with email id and password
  16. Enter the DU reference number
  17. The you will see the OTET application form
  18. In this form you have to fill the Personal Information, Eligibility Criteria, Educational Qualification , Address & Declaration
  19. Now submit the form
  20. Thats all


OTET 2018 Exam Details:

Odisha TET Exam will be conducted in two papers that is PAPER - I and PAPER-II. The details about this exam and syllabus along with question pattern is mentioned below

PAPER - I :- The candidates those have completed the +2 with CT Courses  and want to apply for the Primary School Teacher (Class I to V) Post should apply for the PAPER- I . After qualifying this exam a candidates can apply for the Primary School Teacher Post.

PAPER - II : - The candidates those have completed Graduation (+3) in and stream and also completed B.Ed and want to apply for the Upper Primary School Teacher that is ( Class VI to VIII) have to qualify this exam inorder to apply for the teacher post.

Educational Qualification Required For OTET Exam :

As specified  BY Govt. in School & Mass Education Department, OdishaNo.14302/ SME/ Dt.04.06.2012 and letter No.23860/SME Dt.21.10.2013 of , Bhubaneswar, a candidates should have the following minimum qualification to appear this examination.

PAPER-I : CATEGORY –A 

A candidates having any of the below given qualification can apply for Paper 1 or otet exam.

  • Higher Secondary (+2 or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education   
  • Or 2 years  Diploma in Education (Special Education) approved by RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India)
  • Or Graduation with 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education ( thats is CT Course) 
  • Or 2 years Diploma in Special Education approved by Rehabilitation Council of India.

PAPER-II : CATEGORY –B 

A candidates having any of the below given qualification can apply for Paper 2 or otet exam.

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks with 1 year Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.)
  • Or  1 year B.Ed. (Special Education) approved by RCI
  • Or Higher Secondary (+2 or  equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 years B.A. Ed./ B.Sc. Ed. (integrated course). Relaxation of 5% in qualifying marks in +2 or at  the graduation level shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/ SEBC category.  
  • Candidates who have secured minimum marks in +2 or graduation level, as prescribed at the time of admission into Teacher Education Course; shall also be eligible to appear at OTET 2014.  
  • Candidates who are pursuing (Final Year) of any of the teacher education courses (recognized by NCTE or by the RCI as the case may be) specified above, in both the categories; can also appear at OTET 2014.   

Untrained Candidates (With out CT or B.Ed) :  


The Untrained candidates, means the candidates those have neither completed CT or B.Ed course and belonging to SC, ST  & PH category  and having qualifying mark (5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks in +2 or Graduation Level as the case may be, for the candidates belonging to SC, ST categories)  can also apply.


Can a Student apply For Paper I and Paper II Both ?

Candidates eligible to apply under category –‘B’ of the State’s guide line shall not be eligible to apply under category-A.  (Resolution No.14302/SME/Dt.04.06.2012).

OTET Exam Pattern and Qualifying Criteria :


  1. The Exam Duration is 2:30 Minute.
  2. There will be 150 Questions, all question are multiple choice type with 4 options, candidate have to choose the correct answer. 
  3. A candidates can answer a question by darkening the OMR Sheet with Blue or Black Ball point pens. 
  4. The question papers in non-language subjects shall be in Odia & English.  
  5. There are two language papers. Language II (English) is compulsory and in Language paper I a candidates can choose any of these subjects that is Odia, Hindi, Telugu, Urdu and Bengali.  
  6. Language II (English) is compulsory for Paper I and Paper II exam.
  7. Candidates applying for Paper-II shall have to choose either Mathematics & Science or Social Studies; as one of the Optional Subject.  
  8. There shall be no negative marks.  
  9. The minimum pass mark in each paper  is 60%. A person securing 60% or more in a paper shall be considered OTET Pass. In case of SC, ST, PH, OBC/ SEBC candidate, the minimum pass mark shall be 50%.  
  10. There shall be no restriction on the number of attempts a person can make for acquiring OTET qualifying certificate. A person who has qualified in OTET may also appear again for improving his / her score.  
  11. The validity period of  OTET qualifying certificate / mark sheet,  shall be a period of seven years from the date of OTET Exam. 
  12. Successful candidates shall be awarded with  an OTET Certificate by Board of  Secondary Education, Odisha.   
  13. The result shall be processed on the basis of the information furnished by the candidates in the online application. 

Exam Fee :

A candidates have to pay a fee of Rs 500 (Rupees Three Hundred Fifty) only  through SBI Collect Portal. 

Scan Copy Of Documents Required:

Candidates should keep the following documents at the time of online registrations.
  1. Scanned copy of Class-X/ H.S. Certificate/ Matriculation Marks List as applicable.  
  2. Scanned copy of certificates of qualifying examination.  
  3. Scanned copy of Caste Certificate (Applicable for SC/ST/OBC/SEBC)  
  4. Scanned copy of Disability Certificate, if applicable.  
  5. Scanned copy of  Certificate of +2 / +3  Examination for Untrained Candidates (SC/ST/PH) 
  6. Scanned  copy of “Continuing  Certificate”  for candidates continuing final year of Teacher Education Courses



Odisha TET Questions Pattern & Syllabus:

The below table shows the details questions pattern for paper I and paper II both. There are toatal 150 questions and 5 sections. The five sections are

PAPER 1 Questions Pattern : 

  1. Child Development & Pedagogy : 30 Qns : 30 Marks
  2. Language I (Choose any one from Odia, Urdu/Hindi/Telugu/Bengali) : 30 Qns : 30 Marks
  3. Language II (English) : 30 Qns : 30 Marks
  4. Mathematics : 30 Qns : 30 Marks
  5. Environment Studies : 30 Qns : 30 Marks

  3. Language II (English) : 30 Qns : 30 Marks
  4. EITHER Mathematics & Science  : 60 Qns : 60 Marks 
  5. OR SOCIAL STUDIES :  60 Qns : 60 Marks
